Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop and maintain scripts and programs for data exchanges and interfaces with external systems
  • Coordinate format requirements for data interfaces with mission critical systems
  • Technical POC for interface requirement issues; Provide general Oracle database technical and administrative support; Provide monthly status to the Technical POC
  • Provide metric reporting to client management
  • Ability to perform any/all task within ORACLE/DBA lifecycle (design, development, unit/class testing, maintenance, documentation).
  • Ability to function as part of a development team to include the use of a version control system.
  • Strong capability and ability to resolve highly technical and complex database and infrastructure related issues on their own before they impact production and business.
  • Provides technical expertise to the development of solutions for such items as DBMS tools and utilities usage, database administration, backup and recovery, database performance tuning and monitoring.
  • Performs database migrations, upgrades and structure migrations.
  • Ability to influence development organizations to comply with database best practices and database standards and practices.
  • Runs transaction access path analysis sessions with application developers, analyzing specifications and code to ensure that data access and database designs are as efficient as possible. Make recommendations for improvements in these areas, if necessary.
  • Fully utilizes CASE tools to develop, or modify, physical database designs from logical designs, using the logical design, discussion with the Data Analyst, application development reviews, and documented results from transaction access path analysis sessions as input.
  • Assures quality of database analysis and design across projects, thus enabling company-wide data reusability.
  • Trouble-shoots database and/or software problems as they apply to design, implementation, or installation activities.
  • Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities including such items as database reorganizations and restructures.
  • Coordinates and/or participates in database stress tests, analyzes results, and makes recommendations for design or coding changes based upon those results.
  • Participates in off-hour production problem resolution activities.
  • Researches, evaluates, and tests new software and DBMS related tools and facilities as they pertain to the existing DBMS environment, database designs, procedures, and applications.
  • Monitors current DBMS performance and develops procedures, where necessary, to improve the DBMS environment as required.
  • Identifies and supports quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other assignments to comply with the IT corporate purpose and mission to add business value, increase revenue, decrease costs, improve productivity, and support the strategic initiative/directive.
  • Complies with all security and audit standards. Ensures security of company information by ensuring database is secure and monitors environment to identify improper access

Experience:


  • 5+ years of experience
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:
  • Highly skilled in Oracle database and SQL statement tuning with detailed understating of Oracle s performance reports AWR and Stats-Pack PL/SQL performance tuning.
  • Ability to provide professional level technical documentation and presentation for the tuning recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of MSSQL Server databases, SSRS and SSIS is a big Plus.
  • Hands on experience working on Oracle 9i, 10g and 10g RAC database applications, Oracle s ASM,TDE, OEM Grid control, RMAN
  • Good UNIX Sun Solaris, Linux knowledge and shell scripting is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Connection pooling and middleware software like JBoss, JRun, Tom Cat, IBM Web sphere is desired.
  • Hands on Experience of implementing Oracle 9i and 10G database on UNIX and Linux platform is a must.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers and work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient at time and priority management

Qualifications:


  • Experience with Windows XP
  • Working, and practical, knowledge of Oracle Database administration functions, database structures and design
  • Vista workstations - OS installation, update, and patch software
  • Troubleshooting various Windows-based applications; must have strong communication skills. fast learner
